I've spent many hours in discussion and reflection on curriculum outlooks, classroom management, education approaches, philosophy of teaching, and lesson-planning. I have worked for a few weeks in the UNC Math Help Center with students in classes ranging from Precalculus to Multivariable Calculus.
I also have over 1000 hours of direct service experience tutoring at all grade levels. I have worked both in classrooms and one-on-one with a large variety of students, including students labeled as Academically/Intellectually Gifted, English as a Second Language/English Language Learners, Behaviorally/Emotionally Disabled, and students with severe medical conditions.
My special interests are in sustainability education in public schools, integration of multimedia into learning environments, and overall critical pedagogy of marginalized students.
I am very flexible with students and am versatile in adjusting to individual needs and responding to learning habits and preferences. Previous students have experienced improved confidence in skills, higher test scores, understanding of subject matter, and increased enjoyment in mathematics learning.
