Education

I am a University-level Spanish Professor. I hold a Doctorate by the University of Barcelona and Duke University in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language, and two master's, one in Spanish creative writing by the University Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona, Spain), and another in Second Language Acquisition (University of Barcelona, Spain) I enjoy working with students of all ages! I teach AP Spanish, and all levels of Spanish Language and Literature courses. I have been teaching for 10 years, the last three at Duke University, and three as an independent tutor, with two more while at Duke University.

Experience

As a Tutor, I taught Spanish at elementary level (immersion programs) for Math, Science, and Reading; College level Spanish Literature, Language, and Composition (also publishing in peer-reviewed journals), Spanish for Heritage Speakers, and for non-natives. I do use a variety of methods, hands-on, demonstration, technology enhanced, visual aids, oral input, small group practices, etc. I do encourage learner's autonomy, and have helped improve one letter grade minimum to students not already in A level. Rates are affordable, offer discounts depending of number of hours contracted per week. My usual rate is $45, but if 3 + hours are contracted for each week, I offer specials. Hobbies

I love to discover new cultures, traditions, and values, so when I am not teaching, I am travelling. That includes exploring political, as well as geographical landmarks. I am an avid climber, hiker, (amateur) Photographer, Writer, and painter. I enjoy International Film, particularly Chinese, Indian, and European, love reading, Music, Visual Arts, Performance Arts, and swimming. I have friends in probably close to every country of this beautiful planet.
