Private tutor in Chapel Hill, NC
Education
BA Physics at University of Pennsylvania 2009 MA Biomedical Engineering Cornell University 2013 PhD Biomedical Engineering Cornell University 2015 I attended high school at the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science. I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at UNC Chapel Hill. I study ways to use the immune system to delivery cancer drugs to solid tumors. In my career, I have enjoyed being able to use math and physics (my first loves) with a public cause (finding treatments for cancer)
Experience
SAT: 1240/1600 ACT: 27/36 I have been a TA for engineering Classes at Cornell. I was also a teaching coach for 3 years, leading small group sessions on how to give better presentations. I mentored 5 undergraduate students in independent research projects in my lab. I want to be a tutor because I loved math and science in high school and now that I have a PhD I would like to give back. I can see how many of the interests i had as a teenager have helped me in my career and I hope to also be able to nurture the interests of those I'm tutoring. I want to teach one day so I also want to keep my skills up-to-date. I organized a conference for undergraduate women in physics in 2013 and I was very proud of that. For two years, I was a live-in gradient resident dorm advisor at Cornell. I helped students with homework, navigating the college experience, and also other issues that tweens encounter. I taught high school physics for a year in West Philadelphia in 2009 and I have done freelance tutoring for friends and family.
