I earned a Bachelors in Mathematics and Computer Science from UNC Chapel Hill, and afterwards went to work as a Software Engineer at Google for ~2 years. While at UNC, I was a teaching assistant for the computer science department, a volunteer math tutor at the Math Help Center, and even developed and taught my own class on mathematical games at UNC. Why do I want to be a tutor? Going through school, too many of my peers would say "I'm not good at math" or "Programming is too difficult", yet they would excel at applying higher level thinking to other academic fields. I hope to help alleviate the myth that STEM fields are somehow "out of reach" from certain students by helping them build confidence in STEM fields and strengthening their STEM fundamentals.
