Education
I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Speech Communication from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. I then went on to earn a Master's Degree in Speech Pathology from Truman State University (formerly Northeast Missouri State University) in Kirksville, MO. I have several certifications in accent reduction training (also called accent modification training).
Experience
I worked as a traditional speech-language pathologist in medical facilities for 15 years. In 1999, I founded and continue to be the owner and primary trainer of Speech Advantage (www.SpeechAdvantage.com). Speech Advantage is a consulting company to provide communication training to the corporate world. Specialization area continues to be accent reduction training to professionals who speak English as a second language. I work with people from all over the world both in person as well as over the internet to help them improve their English pronunciation and clarity. Additionally, I worked as a national trainer to train other speech professionals on how to provide accent reduction training to their own clients. In 2014, I authored and published Accent Freedom (www.AccentFreedom.com), a software program for accent reduction.
