Experience
I'm a tutor who is based in the Raleigh-Durham area, where I enjoy reading, making arts and crafts, and playing basketball when I'm not in the classroom working with students. I have my bachelor's degree in anthropology and linguistics from the University of Florida as well as a post-baccalaureate in communication sciences and disorders. I've also recently applied to graduate school to get my master's degree. I have a deep breadth of experience working as a tutor. For example, I volunteered with a program in Florida to help increase the English language skills of migrant workers' children. Currently, I'm volunteering at a charter school where I provide one-on-one tutoring sessions to students who are struggling with their math and reading. I have the most experience working with students in grades one through three and then seven and eight with their math coursework. I always strive to instill a deep passion in my students for learning that allows them to proceed into the rest of their academic career with confidence and ability. I work collaboratively with my students, identifying their specific strengths and weaknesses before developing an individualized lesson plan to combat their weaknesses.
