Hello! My name is Jesica and through my career as a certified teacher and tutor I have learned how to meet the needs of ALL my students - with ages ranging from 3 to 50 years old! I worked at Kumon Learning Center and Sylvan Learning Center for five years and have successfully led my own classroom for several years. During graduate school I specialized in Urban Education. As a Teach for America corps member I learned cutting-edge teaching and data analysis techniques that I use to help recognize student's strengths and weaknesses, allowing me to tailor our sessions exactly to their needs. I am a patient, interactive and fun teacher. I love to use multiple senses (songs, kinesthetics, etc.) when working with children. With these strategies I have led my students to impressive academic growth including: -up to 2.1 years of reading growth in one school year -an average of 88% mastery of literacy standards and 81% of mathematics standards -high success in teaching reading comprehension skills with 83-94% mastery I have learned to meet the needs of all students through working with a wide variety of children. I have led a classroom with half Exceptional Students including those with cognitive and developmental disorders, emotional and behavioral disorders and speech impairments. Furthermore, I led a classroom with 75% English Language Learners. I also have helped older students and adults with test preparation (ACT, SAT, MCAT, etc.). I offer students help with study pacing, testing strategies and more so that they are confident when the test day arrives!
