Experience
I have over 7 years of paid tutoring experience that began during my undergraduate career at Western Kentucky University. As a Peer Tutor at The Learning Center on campus I worked with students on their Math, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and English coursework on a daily basis. I also helped students develop basic study and organizational skills to set them up for success in all courses. Within the Center I consistently maintained the highest monthly tutor utilization rates, and was awarded Most Outstanding Tutor. Apart from this experience I served as a Teaching Assistant and Peer Tutor in the Physics Tutoring Center during my senior year. As a Teaching Assistant I sat in on lectures and assisted the professor when necessary. I conducted class in his absence and offered regular exam reviews. Any students needing additional assistance met with me one-on-one to identify and correct trouble areas. Upon graduation I continued to privately tutor individuals that sought my assistance. I have worked with elementary, middle, high school, and college aged individuals all with differing needs in various subjects, though the bulk of my experience remains in math and physics. Currently I am tutoring two high school students in Pre-Calculus and two non-traditional university students in their Trig/Geometry/Pre-Calculus courses. In addition to my tutoring experience I find it relevant to note that I have also worked in higher education as an Admissions Counselor in the Honors College at Western Kentucky University. In this role I not only met with prospective students, but redesigned the application process and assisted in the selection of the incoming class of Honors students.
