Michael G.
Private tutor in Chapel Hill, NC
Education
I received my Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of New Hampshire, where I wrote a novel about World War I. Before then, I studied history at the University of Massachusetts, where I received an MA in history, and before then I received my BA from UCLA, near where I great up.
Experience
I've been teaching at the university-level for 12 years. For the past four years I've been a faculty member at UNC-Chapel Hill, teaching freshman writing, contemporary literature, and creative writing. Before coming to UNC, I was a full-time faculty member at the University of Miami, where I taught freshman writing and worked in the writing center, helping students with academic papers, graduate school application letters, and even wedding toasts. I've got a novel coming out this fall and I've published short fiction and essays for years. I enjoy working one one one with students (you don't get to do this much in a large classroom environment) and I've come back to tutoring for the chance to do this, while also saving up for the future.

Hobbies
When I'm not working or writing, I enjoy traveling, hiking, and fishing. My wife and I are planning a trip through Canada for next summer and we love to take long road trips. Our honeymoon was spent in a Honda driving throughout the entirety of eastern America. But most of the time, you'll find me working on my second novel, a story set in New York during the 19th century.
