Received a B.A. from Davidson College in 2014 - majored in English with a concentration in Gender Studies.
Experience
I began tutoring the summer after I graduated high school through a literacy improvement program in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro School System called Coach Write and continued to do so throughout my summer breaks in college. I conducted one-on-one conferences with middle and high schoolers in which I would share brainstorming, writing, and editing strategies with students struggling to meet academic writing expectations. While abroad in Spain for a semester during my junior year of college, I tutored native Spaniards in advanced English comprehension and speaking skills. I taught reading and writing skills to small groups of elementary aged students through International House's 2014 summer school program in Charlotte, NC. I have also privately tutored K-12 students in reading and writing, including a few high schoolers as these students prepared to apply for colleges and sought guidance for their essay applications. As an English major at Davidson College, I gained a variety of skills and interest - within the realm of both creative and academic writing. I hope to spread some of the love that I have for literacy based education.
