Experience
I'm a PhD candidate in psychology from the University of New Mexico. I moved out to the Triangle area recently to live with my partner (she's also a PhD candidate, at UNC-Chapel Hill). I also received my Master's from UNM, and my Bachelor's from the University of Colorado. I'm looking for a way to earn some money to support myself while I finish writing my dissertation, and I've learned to love teaching students of all kinds during my graduate school career. I like to think of myself as a well-rounded academic who can tutor on a number of different topics. My training has been diverse, ranging from psychology, to statistics, to genetics and evolutionary biology. I have taught high school students, undergraduate students, and graduate students during my academic career. I received scores in the 95th and 98th percentile on the Verbal and Quantitative sections of the GRE, respectively, and I have been a capable tutor for standardized tests in the past. I am happy to provide personal or professional references upon request. Psychologists are often trained extensively in statistical methods. I am qualified to teach anything from introductory statistics to advanced topics such as structural equation modeling and meta-analysis. Between undergraduate and graduate school, I have taken over a dozen biology courses, and over two dozen psychology courses. I have a Master's degree in psychology, and will soon hold a doctorate in it.
